Our vision

A town where every kid has a place to play

We picture a Slate Belt where no child is left out of sports because of cost, and where youth programs are run by people who care about kids more than records.

Looking ahead

Our mission describes what we do every season. Our vision describes the community we are working toward. It is the picture we hold in mind when the board has to make a hard choice about money or time, and it is what we hope a child who grows up in our programs will one day pass on to their own kids.

We see a Pen Argyl where every young person who wants to play has a team, a coach who believes in them and a safe field to play on. We see parents who trust the league because it is transparent and well run. And we see former players coming back to coach, because they remember what it gave them.

Our goals

Five commitments for the years ahead

1. No child turned away for cost

We want to build a dependable scholarship fund so that any family facing a hard season can register their child quietly, without having to explain themselves. Monthly donors make this possible because their support arrives on a steady schedule we can plan around.

2. Safer equipment, every year

Protective equipment wears out. Our goal is to keep every helmet within its reconditioning schedule, replace worn pads before they fail and keep first-aid supplies stocked at every field and every event.

3. Better-trained volunteers

Good intentions are not enough. We want every head coach to complete recognized training in coaching technique, concussion awareness and child protection, and we want to help pay for it so cost never stands in a volunteer’s way.

4. Fields the town is proud of

Green and White Field is where our community gathers. We plan to keep improving the surface, lighting, seating and concession area so families have a clean, welcoming place to spend their evenings and weekends.

5. Stronger ties across the Slate Belt

We want to work more closely with local schools, businesses and neighboring youth programs, sharing resources and scheduling so that children can try more than one sport without their families being stretched too thin.

And always: keep it local

Whatever we grow into, the association will stay run by the people of this community, accountable to the families it serves, and open to anyone who wants to help.

What success will look like

We do not measure our vision by wins and losses. We will know we are getting closer when registration numbers stay strong even in tough economic years, when the same families return season after season, and when kids who aged out of our programs are the ones holding the clipboard on the sideline. We will know it when a parent new to town tells us the league was the first place they felt at home.

None of this happens without help. Every volunteer hour, every sponsored jersey and every monthly gift moves us closer. If you share this picture of what our town can be, we would be glad to have you with us.

Help another child suit up this season

Registration fees, helmets, cheer uniforms, field lights and insurance all cost money. Your gift keeps fees low and makes sure no child in our community sits out because of cost.
